We strive to maintain and enhance an effective relationship and connection with our Parish and wider community.

St. John’s maintains and enhances its connection to the community through activities such as:  

  • Assemblies and regular attendance at Parish Masses

  • Liturgical celebrations

  • Sports Events

  • Canteen (parent volunteers)

  • Uniform shop

  • Weekly newsletter

  • A very active and hardworking Parents and Friends group

  • School Board

  • Parish Pastoral Group (school representative)

  • Working Bees (one per term)

  • Parent helpers in the classrooms

  • Parent involvement in excursions, inter-school sport, cooking etc

  • Sacramental nights

  • Year Four/Five students attending first Friday Masses with Parish elderly citizens

  • Family Week and Feast Day activities

  • Opportunities for parental education e.g. Cyber Safety

  • Family Carols Night

  • Working with St. Joseph’s College & Mater Christi on various Projects

  • Father’s Day Breakfast and Mother’s Day High Tea

  • Grandparents Day

  • Parent Involvement in Running Club

  • School Fete (every 2 years)    

 

 We welcome the wider community into our school:

  • Work experience / Community Service students from St. Joseph’s College and Mater Christi College and students who are Parishioners and attend alternate secondary schools

  • Clinics conducted by the Knox Basketball Association

  • Clinics with players from the Hawthorn Football Club

  • Tennis Clinics

  • School Nursing Service

  •  A.C.U. training students
