Curriculum - Sport and Physical Education

At St. John the Baptist Parish  Primary School students in Years P-6 receive a 50 minute session of Physical Education each week which is taught by a specialist and aims to develop key skills.  They also participate in a 50 minute sports session which is facilitated by the classroom teacher.  The School Physical Education program aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to develop and maintain their physical health. The program focuses on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity.

As a member of the Victorian School SportsAssociation children are given opportunities to participate in inter- school competition at the Senior Level. Students who display a particular talent for a sport are nominated to trial for various Victorian representative teams.

As a school community, we organise an annual House Athletics Festival, conduct a morning running club and a variety of lunchtime programs.

The Junior School also participate in an intensive swimming program which focusses on water safety and survival skills.
