Curriculum - Library

The Library at St. John the Baptist is the central Resource Centre for the school which caters for the needs of the children and staff. The library is fully automated and the children are being taught the necessary skills to allow them to borrow and access information.

At St. John's the librarian works towards:

  • encouraging  love of literature and reading in the students by presenting a wide range of genres, forms and authors

  • creating an environment where children can go to read, borrow a book, listen to stories, or carry out research

  • implementing an instructional program within the school to enable children to make efficient use of library resources and to develop skills for critical appraisal of materials

  • evaluating and selecting materials to support the educational program of the school.

  • encouraging children to assist with the organisation, care and maintenance of the library
